One of my favorite parts so far! I swear, Mr. Westerfeld has mentioned potatoes in all three of the Leviathan books! I think we have a common obsession. XD

Leviathan: Deryn steals the other middies' potatoes in the beginning.
Behemoth: Volger finally takes a bite of his potatoes when Deryn comes to talk to him.
Goliath: Deryn tells Newkirk and Alek to eat their potatoes to keep warm and later is described as "going back to her precious potatoes." And, Deryn steals one of Newkirk's potatoes.
Deryn does love her potatoes.
